"Epic Seven" Exploring Frieren's Impact

Epic Seven is a mobile turn based RPG game from Smile Gate. In this game, players can collect characters that they want to utilize in different game modes. These game modes can be PVE (Player vs Environment) or they can be PVP (Player vs Player). About once a year, Epic Seven usually has collaborations with famous IPs. In September of 2025, this collaboration was with the hit Anime series "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End". As expected, the community was very excited and the collaboration is considered to be huge success with many new players starting out with this collab. In this opinion piece, I will be going over Frieren's impact in RTA ( Real Time Arena) which is a PVP mode.

Initial impressions of Frieren

There is no doubt that Frieren had overwhelming expectations coming into the game. Many players expected Frieren to be strong based on the showcase before her release. From veteran community players to content creators all seeming to think that Frieren was warranting the hype. Content Creators such as im_Tsu, TristanWulf, and others believed that this may be the best banner in the game's history while other veteran players were noting that she seemed strong in their first impressions in RTA.

Taking a Look at Frieren's RTA Stats

Since Frieren's release into the game she has been played in 802,582 RTA matches with an additional 161,319 matches where she has been pre-banned. With a pick/ban rate of 59.2%, she is in the top 5 of all characters in the game with the highest pick/ban rate. For reference there are over 350 characters in Epic Seven. Her win rate sits just below 55% at 54.58% which ranks as the 2nd highest win rate among every character. Based on these stats alone, it cannot be denied that Frieren has had an almost immediate impact in Epic Seven. Boasting the 2nd highest win rate further supports the idea that its not just popularity that makes her so common but that she is actually a good character within in the game.

Based on the graph above, we see that Frieren's pick rate has seen an increase since September 25th. Almost a month and half in, she seems to be still climbing. It's important to note that potential new players cannot access RTA until they have progressed through the game's other contents so this may account for the increase as well. There's no denying that Frieren has seen considerable usage in RTA and she has made an immediate impact and is continuing to have impact today.

What Makes Frieren so impactful?

Is Frieren being played because of the dedicated fanbase that exists outside of Epic Seven or is she a character who actually is good in the game? The data seems to suggest that she is actually a powerful character that is worth using in RTA. As mentioned before boasting the 2nd highest win rate, its clear that players are finding numerous success in using Frieren in RTA. Upon further look, I found that players are finding success on Frieren across different builds which further suggests that the character is just outright powerful. Frieren's ability to utilize different builds allows her to be played flexibly in different playstyles. Below are the 5 top most used builds for Frieren which all boast win rate over 50%. There is no denying that no matter how you build Frieren, players are finding success in playing her. It's also worth nothing that among different builds, players can have various different stat lines. Regardless, the data seems to suggest that Frieren has taken over RTA in every aspect.

My Thoughts and Stats on Frieren

Just based on the data, it's impossible to deny that Frieren has had a massive impact on RTA and Epic Seven as a whole. I've even collected data from my own matches and it further verifies that Frieren's impact cannot be understated. In my own matches in this RTA Season, I have played Frieren 15 times out of my 40 games played in RTA. This equates to roughly a 38% play rate with a win rate of 60%. Just from my own small sample size, it further proves that Frieren has had impact in the way I play in RTA. It is also worth mentioning that in RTA only a single player can choose one character meaning if my opponent had selected Frieren, I was not able to. After my own testing, I have found that Frieren does well into different styles and is a character that cannot be overlooked. She definitely warrants the high play rate and my own personal matches seem to align closely with what the RTA database shows. As for personal enjoyment, I did have a lot of fun using her in RTA. She definitely showcased why she deserved to be such a high priority. As someone who has watched the show and played Epic Seven for the last 5 years, this collaboration was something that I could not wait to drop. She is a character that I will continue to use for a very long time.

Regardless whether you play RTA or not, it cannot be understated just how impactful Frieren has been in EpicSeven. She has brought in new players who have never played the game due to her popularity outside the game. She has also found massive success inside all of EpicSeven's content making her a huge success in EpicSeven's eyes. She's heralded as one of the best collaborations in this games 7 year history. From casual players to veterans, it seems that everyone is finding a use for Frieren and having immediate impact. It is rumored that the game saw an additional 80,000 downloads during the collaboration attracting old veterans and new players alike. It's clear from just RTA usage alone that she can be considered a huge success and that she is likely here to stay and be relevant for a long time. Whether you play strictly PVE or also do PVP, there is no denying that Frieren will be a character that is impactful to have on your account. With such a widespread impact, it's likely considered one of the better collaborations among mobile games in general.
